Wool Carpet Cleaning Prague – Safe & Thorough by BeeClean

Wool Carpet Cleaning in Prague – Getting It Right Every Time
Wool carpets are among the most satisfying to clean well and the most damaging to clean badly. The natural fibre is durable and forgiving under normal use, but it reacts strongly to alkaline chemicals, excessive heat, and aggressive mechanical scrubbing. BeeClean has developed a specific approach to wool carpet cleaning in Prague that protects the fibre while delivering a genuinely deep clean.
Why Wool Needs a Different Approach
Wool fibres have microscopic scales that interlock under heat, friction, or alkaline conditions – the same process that causes a wool jumper to shrink in a hot wash. In carpet form, the effects include felting, loss of pile resilience, colour change, and in severe cases, permanent fibre damage. The risks are:
- Alkaline detergents – cause felting and weaken fibre structure
- Hot water above 40°C – risks shrinkage and colour distortion
- Heavy mechanical agitation – hard brushes damage the fibre surface
- Prolonged dampness – wool is slow to dry and can develop mould or a musty smell if not dried properly
Our Method
We use only pH-neutral or mildly acidic wool-safe cleaning solutions. Water temperature is kept below 40°C throughout. Mechanical agitation is light – soft brushes only. After cleaning, the carpet is dried flat or at a gentle angle, never hung vertically, which would strain the warp threads and distort the shape.
Hand or Machine Cleaning?
Modern machine-made wool carpets (such as those from major Scandinavian brands) generally tolerate gentle extraction well. Older hand-knotted or hand-tufted wool rugs are better suited to hand cleaning or a hybrid approach. We assess each carpet before deciding.
Wool and Stain Removal
Wool contains natural lanolin, which gives it some inherent stain resistance. Fresh spills bead up and can be blotted away before they set. Old stains or stains that have been treated with the wrong household product (neat dish soap, undiluted vinegar, bleach) are more challenging. Tell us what has been applied previously – it helps us choose the right treatment and manage expectations accurately.
Pricing
- Up to 5 m²: from 600 CZK
- 5–15 m²: from 1,000 CZK
- 15–30 m²: from 1,400 CZK
- Over 30 m²: from 40 CZK/m²
Drying Time
Wool dries more slowly than synthetic fibres – allow 6–12 hours. Good ventilation, a fan, or underfloor heating will accelerate this significantly. Keep the carpet away from damp storage areas until fully dry.
